About the Role
The Ehlanzeni: Head Guide position is a senior leadership role that requires exceptional guiding skills, strong communication abilities, and excellent problem-solving capabilities. As the head guide, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of products by all rangers, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests, and coordinating ongoing training and unit standard maintenance of ranger qualifications and certifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Guiding guests
- Communicate daily with the General Manager regarding all camp guest and staff matters, daily operations, staff issues, vehicle issues, and any shared staff service requirements
- Foster a warm, welcoming, and relaxing atmosphere for all guests to maximise guest enjoyment
- Co-ordinate on-going training and unit standard maintenance of all rangers qualifications and certifications in conjunction with the Human Resources Manager and General Manager
- Assist in any emergency in the field or at any of the camps
- Work with the Operations Manager on all ranger performance matters, safari policy implementation, and standard operating procedures
Requirements
- Matric FGASA level 2 or higher
- First Aid level 2 (Minimum)
- Handle and use of a Manually Operated Rifle, shotgun, and Carbine for Business Purposes
- SAQA ID 123519
- NDT registered
- Lead trails qualification
- Valid Advanced Rifle Handling qualification is essential
- Minimum 5 years of “Big 5” African Safari guiding experience
- Minimum 2 years of assistant head ranger or head ranger experience is essential
