About the Role
Our client, a leader in the steel industry, is seeking an experienced Roll Grinder to join their team based in Cato Ridge. The successful candidate will be responsible for grinding rolls for CRM and SPM, ensuring high-quality products while maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to safe work practice and good housekeeping (6S)
- Carry out the grinding of rolls for CRM and SPM and adhere to the grinding procedures within correct tolerances of dimensions.
- Monitor the operation of the grinding machinery.
- Check and ensure quality of rolls relating to surface finish, hardness, Ultrasonic Tester (UT) and the dimensions.
- Ensure correct balancing of grinding wheels prior to operating the roll grinder machine.
- Ensure good condition of the measuring instruments, UT and hardness tester.
- Reporting of operating parameters.
- Ensure SOP for roll grinding is updated and roll grinders are trained on SOP.
- Ensure Skin pass rolls are ground properly within tolerance and blasting quality is done properly.
- Ensure both roll grinding machines are in good working order and maintenance is done as required on a shutdown schedule.
