Job Description

The Business Development Manager Lighting and Optics is responsible for driving sustainable growth across the companys lighting and optics portfolio. The role combines strategic planning, business development, and data-driven sales management to increase market share, enhance profitability, and strengthen the companys competitive position. This individual will identify and pursue new business opportunities, develop long-term client partnerships, and collaborate with internal teams to align product offerings with customer needs and market trends. Research and identify new business opportunities, including new markets, trends, technologies, and partnerships within the lighting and optics sector. Develop and execute business plans to expand the companys presence locally and across borders. Think strategicallyset aims and objectives to develop, improve, and sustain business growth. Carry out business planning and sales forecasting to support management decisions. Collaborate with the Marketing Department to implement promotional strategies and campaigns. Liaise with Finance, Warehousing, and Logistics to ensure smooth business operations. Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within existing and emerging customer segments. Generate leads, conduct cold calls, and meet with clients (in person or via MS Teams). Foster and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure retention and repeat business. Understand customer needs and provide tailored solutions and product recommendations. Negotiate and close sales deals aligned with company pricing structures and profitability targets. Manage key accounts with structured communication and engagement strategies. Represent the company at exhibitions, conferences, and industry events. Create, manage, and maintain a healthy sales pipeline. Conduct regular sales analysis to evaluate product performance, customer buying behaviour, and market demand. Track and analyse KPIs including revenue growth, gross margins, conversion rates, and client retention. Prepare monthly and quarterly sales performance reports with actionable insights. Utilize CRM and data visualization tools for forecasting and trend analysis. Identify underperforming areas and propose corrective measures. Work closely with engineering and technical teams to align product offerings with customer needs and industry standards. Train and support sales team, arranging external training where appropriate. Contribute to pricing strategy discussions, discount structures, and tender submissions. Ensure alignment with the broader groups sales and marketing strategies. Assist with client contracts and proposals as needed. Stay abreast of market and technology developments in lighting and optics. Provide feedback from the field to inform product development and continuous improvement. Seek and implement ways to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. · Degrees in business development or business management are the most relevant. · Minimum of 5 years experience in Business Development or Sales within the Lighting, Optics, or Electrical industry. · Proven experience in sales analysis, forecasting, and performance reporting. · Strong commercial and negotiation acumen with a track record of achieving sales targets. · Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel), CRM systems. Valid drivers license and willingness to travel as required.
