Chief Operating Officer (COO) | Luxury Wine Estate | Franschhoek Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join a prestigious luxury wine estate in Franschhoek. This senior leadership role will focus on consolidating technology and data services across a diverse, international group of companies. It is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional with expertise in data, analytics, AI, and software development to shape global strategy and lead a high-performing team. Key Purpose The COO will oversee the data and technology division, integrating systems across multiple business units and countries. The successful candidate will drive innovation, deliver data-driven solutions, and optimise business processes to enable informed decision-making group-wide. Key Responsibilities Lead and inspire the data and technology division, managing performance and growth. Oversee data management, warehousing, CRM, e-commerce platforms, websites, apps, and hospitality technology solutions. Design and implement a global data strategy, including AI and advanced analytics. Develop and maintain robust data pipelines, integrations, and reporting frameworks. Manage technology projects and product development, ensuring timely delivery within budget. Provide actionable data insights to support marketing, e-commerce, and wider business strategies. Ensure compliance with GDPR, POPIA, and other regulatory requirements. Collaborate with international teams, with occasional travel as required. Requirements Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in data, analytics, data science, software development, and/or engineering. Strong leadership and people management skills. Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce). Expertise in BI and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Analytics). Strong technical knowledge of programming and data science tools (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, pandas) and database languages. Proven track record of developing and executing data strategies. Experience managing large-scale technology projects and product development. Ability to communicate complex insights clearly and persuasively across all levels. Willingness to travel internationally and commit to on-site presence (5 days per week). Advantageous: experience in e-commerce and hospitality technology.
