About the Role
A luxury hospitality group is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Payroll Officer to support the Human Resources and Finance departments through the accurate coordination, administration, and maintenance of all payroll-related functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Load; terminate, and transfer employees on the Payroll and PRP systems, including fingerprint registrations
- Ensure all employees clock in correctly and resolve any incorrect clockings
- Explain first-month payments, payslips, overtime, and termination pay to new employees
- Share employee benefit information and ensure beneficiary forms are completed and third-party portals updated
- Ensure managers authorise hours worked and leave transactions by stipulated deadlines
- Distribute Sage payroll registers to managers for approval
- Prepare salary review reports for Finance approval and submit bank files to the Financial Manager for payment release
- Ensure all new employees and payslips are loaded onto ESS and schedulers are run
- Process month-end payments for terminated employees and compile UI-19s and salary schedules
- Reconcile EMP201s monthly and ensure readiness for submission
- Reconcile all third-party payroll transactions
- Submit UIF files within monthly deadlines in line with the Finance Calendar
- Prepare and submit medical aid reconciliations, month-end reports, and General Ledger files to Finance
- Ensure compliance with tax mid-year and year-end requirements (EMP501 reconcisions) and release IRP5s on ESS
Requirements
- 35 years payroll experience
- Human Resources experience will be advantageous
- Advanced MS Office proficiency
- Advanced payroll system knowledge, specifically Sage 300
- High attention to detail
- Ability to manage the payroll function independently
Qualifications
- Matric Certificate
- Relevant Payroll or Human Resources qualification
- Financial qualification will be advantageous
