?Urgent: Sous Chef Luxury Boutique Property | Franschhoek ? Location: Franschhoek, Western Cape ? Salary: R20,000 R30,000 per month, depending on experience ? Accommodation: Live-out (local candidates preferred) ? Start Date: URGENT placement Position Overview A world-class regenerative hospitality retreat in the Franschhoek Valley is urgently seeking a Sous Chef to join its culinary team. The role blends creativity and precision, supporting the Head Chef in crafting soulful, seasonal cuisine that celebrates sustainability and conscious living. The Sous Chef serves as the calm and capable heartbeat of the kitchen a mentor, organiser, and artist who ensures that every dish reflects care, excellence, and connection. Key Responsibilities Culinary Excellence Prepare and plate daily, seasonal menus to the highest standard. Confidently apply both traditional and modern techniques, including plant-based and fermentation methods. Adapt creatively to seasonal produce, guest preferences, and evolving menus. Ensure exceptional flavour, presentation, and timing in every dish. Leadership & Collaboration Support and deputise for the Head Chef when required. Motivate and guide fellow kitchen team members with professionalism and warmth. Foster teamwork, communication, and calm kitchen culture. Champion sustainability, ingredient respect, and minimal waste practices. Operations & Organisation Oversee food hygiene, health, and safety compliance at all times. Manage stock control, portioning, and cost efficiency. Ensure impeccable cleanliness, order, and operational flow within the kitchen. Participate in supplier management and inventory coordination. Guest Experience Engage authentically with guests when appropriate, sharing culinary philosophy and ingredient stories. Support special events, communal dining, and immersive culinary experiences. Collaborate fluidly with farm, F&B, and guest experience teams. Candidate Profile 35 years experience in a Sous Chef within a 5 lodge or fine-dining restaurant. Formal Culinary Qualification required. Passion for sustainable, seasonal, and conscious cuisine. Proven ability to manage a small team with grace and precision. Strong organisational and communication skills, with a calm, collaborative nature. Must reside in or near Franschhoek (no live-in accommodation provided). Why Apply?
