Job Summary
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Requirements:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Draughtsman qualification
- 5 years of experience in a similar role or within the pump manufacturing or maintenance industry
- Understanding of machining and geometric tolerancing
- Mechanical, structural, plant and pump station exposure
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective filing and archiving systems
- Must have an understanding of engineering specifications and codes
- Must have an understanding of draughting principals
- CAD / Auto CAD / Inventor 3D packages or similar
Responsibilities:
- Produce technical drawings based on the specifications as per the customer/contract requirements.
- Assist with general drawings, office filing in relation to monthly reports, parts lists etc.
- Do basic design calculations and selections pertaining to pump sets, base plates and auxiliaries.
- Detailed component design including material properties, clearances, machining and tolerance, weld maps and writing of technical/ engineering procedures when required.
- To create customer related drawings, eg. General arrangements, structural baseplates, piping and sectional drawings.
- Pump station, piping, system layout and design.
- Redraw and create 3D models and assemblies based on 2D drawings.
- Create new or rework drawings based on a changing engineering environment.
- Update current drawings if and when new revisions are required.
- Maintain the drawing office systems and procedures.
- Liaise with other departments, eg. Sales, Projects, Workshops, etc.
- Comply with and enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Assist fellow employees with daily functions as and when required.
- Carry out all other reasonable tasks that may be delegated from time to time.
