Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs
- Assist in performing scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, including conveyors, motors, compressors, and HVAC systems.
- Support troubleshooting and basic repairs of mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
- Carry out general maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, and replacement of simple machine components.
- Help maintain refrigeration systems to support product quality.
- Support the repair and servicing of hydraulic and pneumatic systems under supervision.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and assist in identifying and reporting hazards.
- Ensure all work complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act).
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities for compliance and audit purposes.
Support & Optimization
- Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment as directed.
- Provide hands-on assistance during equipment operation to support production teams.
- Suggest basic maintenance improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Certificate in a mechanical or electrical trade (advantageous but not mandatory).
- Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a food processing or industrial environment.
- Skills:
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems (e.g., pumps, conveyors).
- Familiarity with electrical systems, including motors and wiring (basic).
- Willingness to learn maintenance management software.
- Other
Requirements:
- Ability to work in cold and wet conditions.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Valid driver’s license (advantageous).
