Our client is looking for an Automation Technician to join their team in Germiston, GP. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, repairing, and maintaining automated machinery, PLCs, and computer systems. This is a hands-on role requiring a solid understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems to ensure smooth and efficient operation of industrial automation equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Install and maintain automated systems and machinery

• Perform diagnostics to identify inefficiencies or malfunctions

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly

• Maintain a deep understanding of machinery operations and failure points

• Ensure systems are up-to-date and operating at peak performance

• Analyse complex technical information to identify faults

• Develop and implement effective repair strategies

• Communicate clearly regarding system status, problems, and solutions

• Train staff on equipment usage and maintenance procedures

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals

• Ensure machinery complies with safety regulations

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an Automation Technician or in a similar role

• Electrical and Mechanical qualifications

• 35 years experience with industrial machinery and equipment

• Knowledge of Siemens, Delta, and Allen Bradley PLC systems (programming and fault finding)

• Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

• Technical training in automation, electrical engineering, or a related field

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

• Competence in database management

• Applied knowledge of mathematics (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics)
