COMMUNITY SERVICES AND HEALTH CITY HEALTH SENIOR AIR QUALITY PRACTITIONER BASIC SALARY: R532 737 PER ANNUM REF NO: HS 45/25 VASCO, GOODWOOD Requirements: Four-year tertiary qualification preferably a BTech in Environmental Science / Environmental Health / Environmental Management or similar equivalent qualification Current registration with the Health Professions Council or similar Professional body for Non-EHP Professionals At least five (5) years relevant experience A valid Code 08 (B) drivers licence Peace Officer certificate Computer literacy in MS Office Recognised qualification as an environmental management inspector would be an advantage. Key performance areas: Administer the processing of atmospheric emission licensing applications to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and protection of the environment and public health Investigate, evaluate, review, recommend on environmental impact assessment applications, specialist air quality studies and development management applications and recommend mitigation measures to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and protection of the environment and public health Process and assess applications and to make recommendations for approval of fuel burning-equipment to enforce compliance with relevant legislation Process and assess applications and recommend approval of open burning applications in order to enforce compliance with relevant legislation To enforce the National Environmental Management Air Quality Act (No 39 of 2004) and City of Cape Town Air Quality Management By-law of 2016 to give effect to legal requirements and to investigate and evaluate diverse complaints to maintain the objectives of the City of Cape Towns Air Quality Management Plan (AQMP) and comply with Councils complaints policy Compile, develop, modify, plan, validate and maintain an atmospheric emissions inventory database to maintain the objectives of the AQMP and to maintain the air quality management system for the City of Cape Town Perform various administrative duties to ensure effective and efficient administration Initiate and coordinate community involvement to liaise with the community with regard to environmental air pollution matters Perform various project management tasks A willingness to work after hours when required.
