Job Summary

Main purpose of the job: To recruit study participants from the community into a study, maintain retention of study participants through home visits/telephone tracking, participate in the process of raising awareness about the study and creating a relationship between the WRHI and the community Location: 22 Esselen street, Hillbrow, Johannesburg Key performance areas: Support study Recruitment Promote studies and recruit participants Address potential participants in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) Inform willing participants that participation in the study is voluntary Address relevant concerns and misconceptions about the study Conduct prescreening interviews to determine eligibility into study Schedule appointment/s with eligible participants to attend further screening at study clinic Contact participants prior to their scheduled visits to remind them of their visit Support Study Retention Prepare list of home visits according to priority and living area Contact participants telephonically to reschedule visits Accompany research staff to the dwellings or clinics Conduct counselling sessions with participants to ensure retention Support participant surveys Support translations Support Research Literacy Conduct study awareness sessions in waiting areas Support focus groups/interviews/translation if needed Promote research within the community and community structures Effective Self-Management Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback Take ownership for driving own career development by participating in on-going training and development activities such as forums, conferences, policy setting workshops, etc. Required minimum education and training: Grade 12 Valid driver’s license Fluent in English and other African languages (Sesotho and Zulu preferable) Required minimum work experience: Minimum 2 years working experience Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities: Certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Empathetic with good communication and interpersonal skills Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Be tactful, respectful and maintain confidentiality Able to work independently and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team Demands of the job: Travelling and working over weekends (Saturdays) may be required Must be able to work in the community with participants who are HIV positive or negative and emotional because of HIV or other illnesses TO APPLY: Only if you meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.
