Johannesburg: Architectural Technologist – Fuel Station & Forecourt Design

Our client, a leading company in the fuel retail construction and design sector, is seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist to join their technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, detailing, and drafting of fuel stations, forecourts, and related retail facilities, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and municipal regulations. This is a key technical role requiring hands-on experience in architectural drawing, design coordination, and construction documentation for petroleum infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities • Prepare architectural designs, layout plans, and detailed construction drawings for fuel stations, forecourts, canopies, and convenience stores. • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure design accuracy and regulatory compliance. • Develop site layout drawings, including pump islands, tank placements, access routes, and drainage systems. • Coordinate with local authorities for building plan submissions and approvals. • Ensure that all designs adhere to petroleum, fire safety, and environmental regulations. • Maintain and update CAD drawings throughout the project lifecycle. • Participate in site inspections and project meetings to verify design intent during construction. • Assist in preparing as-built drawings and technical documentation upon project completion. Requirements • National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology / Draughting. • Minimum 5 years of experience in architectural design and drafting. • Proven experience in fuel station or forecourt design is essential. • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience beneficial). • Strong understanding of building codes, fire regulations, and petroleum site layouts. • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure. • Excellent attention to detail, spatial planning, and technical accuracy.
