About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager (Construction) to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth and development in the construction industry, working closely with clients, consultants, architects, engineers, and suppliers to secure new projects and service contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the construction industry
- Develop and manage a strong pipeline of prospective clients, developers, consultants, and contractors
- Lead client presentations, negotiations, and contract discussions to convert leads into secured projects aligned with company objectives
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, acting as a key point of contact during pre-contract and tender phases
- Attend industry events, site meetings, and networking functions
- Identify and assess tender opportunities in both the public and private sector, collaborating closely with estimating, technical, and operations teams to prepare compliant and competitive bids and proposals
- Contribute to pricing strategies and commercial risk assessments, ensuring all submission deadlines are met
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and upcoming developments, providing insights to management to support strategic growth initiatives
- Identify new sectors, regions, or services for expansion
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 37 years experience in business development, sales, marketing, or commercial roles within the construction industry
- Proven track record of securing construction projects or service contracts
