Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to service, maintain, and repair a fleet of mobile cranes, cherry pickers, trucks, and bakkies. The successful candidate will be hands-on, reliable, and capable of working independently while ensuring fleet availability and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Service, diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile cranes (yellow metal), cherry pickers, trucks, and bakkies
Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on diesel engines
Carry out auto-electrical and hydraulic fault finding and repairs
Complete job cards accurately and timeously
Plan maintenance work and maintain a computer-based service schedule
Ensure all machinery complies with safety and operational standards
Work independently when required and manage workload effectively
Support shutdown periods, including early starts and late finishes when operationally required
Participate in standby duty and weekend work when necessary

Requirements

Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, specifically within yellow metal / mobile cranes
Several years hands-on experience working with heavy-duty plant and fleet vehicles
Strong auto-electrical and hydraulic repair knowledge
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Computer literacy for maintenance planning and service records
Physically fit and capable of performing demanding mechanical work
Valid drivers licence (Code EC or similar advantageous)

Qualifications

Completed relevant technical training or certification
