Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Direct Travel Specialist to join a leading luxury travel company based in Johannesburg. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate travel professional to design unforgettable itineraries and deliver exceptional service to high-end clients.

Key

• Professionally handle reservation requests via phone and email.

• Creatively plan and design unique, personalized itineraries for direct guests.

• Manage the full booking process from quoting to finalising, including reservations, invoicing, and travel documents.

• Deliver outstanding customer service and ensure guest satisfaction throughout the booking process.

• Communicate effectively with suppliers and travel planners to confirm all logistics.

• Proactively sell products and services to provide the best possible safari experience.

• Handle Saturday, public holidays, and cell phone duties on a rotational basis.

• Work rotating shifts (07:0015:30 and 09:3018:00).

• Provide backup support for colleagues when needed.

• Participate in ongoing product training to expand destination knowledge.

• Uphold company values centred on people, land, and wildlife.

Skills and Competencies Required:

• Strong time management and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication and written English.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong customer service orientation.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

• Creative, flexible, energetic, and patient.

• Confident working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong computer skills; experience with Tourplan is advantageous.

Knowledge Required:

• In-depth understanding of Southern and East African travel destinations, including Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, and others.

• Familiarity with FIT and group travel policies and procedures.

• Knowledge of safari offers and bespoke travel planning.

Experience Required:

• Minimum 5 years experience in a reservations role within a tour operating environment (not hotel or car rental reservations).
