Johannesburg: Financial Director (IFRS 17 knowledge)

As the Financial Director, you will be the top finance authority for the business unit, responsible for financial strategy, controls, performance, governance and long-term financial health. While supported by group structures and frameworks, you will have the autonomy to shape your department, elevate processes, modernise systems and lead the finance team into its next evolution. Key Responsibilities: Lead financial strategy, governance and policy implementation across the business unit Oversee financial management, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis Drive financial modelling, FP&A, data insights and commercial evaluations for strategic decision-making Ensure strong financial controls, regulatory compliance, IFRS alignment (including IFRS 17) and risk management Lead financial information systems, automation projects and process optimisation initiatives Manage accounting, cost control, payroll and financial operations in line with group frameworks Provide business advice, commercial insight and strategic direction to executives, including at the Board level Build, lead and develop a high-performance finance team while shaping a modern, scalable finance function Job Experience and Skills Required: CA(SA) qualified (non-negotiable) 12 to 15 years post-articles experience (majority in insurance) – non-negotiable Minimum 7 years people management experience leading large finance teams Proven experience in financial leadership, strategy, governance and building finance functions Strong IFRS, with IFRS 17 knowledge essential Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, modelling, financial reporting and risk identification Strong commercial acumen with the ability to partner at an executive and Board level A hands-on leader; someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and building processes, structure and capability If youre ready for a role where your leadership shapes the organisations financial future and your voice matters at the boardroom table, this is your next strategic move!
