About the Role
The Mathematics and NS Educator will be responsible for teaching and educating students in Mathematics and National Subjects, while also contributing to the overall academic and administrative functions of the school. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for teaching and learning, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach classroom lessons that foster purposeful progression in learning
- Prepare lessons and consider orientation, regional courses, new approaches, techniques, evaluation, aids, etc.
- Plan, co-ordinate, control, administer, evaluate, and report on learners’ academic progress
- Establish a classroom environment that stimulates positive learning and actively engages learners
- Utilize learners’ own experiences as a fundamental and valuable resource
- Cater for the educational and general welfare of all learners in their care
- Assist the departmental head in identifying aspects that require special attention
- Participate in extra-curricular activities, including sports and cultural programmes
- Coordinate and control academic activities, stock, and equipment
- Perform or assist with non-teaching administrative duties as per the PAM document
Requirements
- Recognised/valid teaching qualification in Mathematics
- Honours degree advantageous
- Valid SACE certificate
- Knowledge of CAPS Curriculum
- Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience in Mathematics
- Ability to work under pressure and possess proven qualities such as empathy, organisational skills, communication skills
