Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead financial strategy, governance and policy implementation across the business unit
- Oversee financial management, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis
- Drive financial modelling, FP&A, data insights and commercial evaluations for strategic decision-making
- Ensure strong financial controls, regulatory compliance, IFRS alignment (including IFRS 17) and risk management
- Lead financial information systems, automation projects and process optimisation initiatives
- Manage accounting, cost control, payroll and financial operations in line with group frameworks
- Provide business advice, commercial insight and strategic direction to executives, including at the Board level
- Build, lead and develop a high-performance finance team while shaping a modern, scalable finance function
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- CA(SA) qualified (non-negotiable)
- 12 to 15 years post-articles experience (majority in insurance) – non-negotiable
- Minimum 7 years people management experience leading large finance teams
- Proven experience in financial leadership, strategy, governance and building finance functions
- Strong IFRS, with IFRS 17 knowledge essential
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, modelling, financial reporting and risk identification
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to partner at an executive and Board level
- A hands-on leader; someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and building processes, structure and capability
