Johannesburg: Junior Financial Manager

About the Role

A well-established and fast-paced engineering and services business is seeking a Junior Financial Manager to take ownership of core financial operations and support strategic decision-making at divisional and group level. This hands-on leadership role involves operating at the intersection of finance, operations, HR, and compliance, ensuring strong financial control and commercial insight across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily financial operations including creditors, debtors, payroll and cash management
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, profit estimates, cash flow reports and forecasts
  • Compile year-end financial statements and audit packs
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting and strategic financial planning (including 5-year plans)
  • Ensure accurate GL reconciliations and financial controls
  • Conduct profitability analysis and financial performance reporting
  • Authorise EFT payments within delegated limits
  • Manage online banking approvals and financial authorisations
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to mitigate fraud and risk
  • Ensure compliance with group finance policies and financial legislation
  • Ensure accurate job costing and inventory control
  • Manage fixed assets, CAPEX, acquisitions and disposals
  • Oversee stock takes (bi-annual) and inventory accuracy
  • Control procurement and stores functions
  • Participate in tender vetting and commercial evaluation
  • Provide financial input into sales and operational decisions
  • Manage, develop and discipline finance staff
  • Drive performance management, job descriptions and training
  • Support Employment Equity and Skills Development initiatives
  • Oversee statutory HR reporting (EE, MERSETA, RMA submissions)
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS, tax legislation and financial regulations
  • Prepare monthly tax computations and year-end tax packs
  • Manage insurance renewals and compliance documentation
  • Support internal and external audit processes
  • Provide financial support across departments as a central business partner
  • Oversee procurement and stores from a financial control perspective
  • Participate in management meetings and strategic reviews
  • Drive BBBEE targets and compliance requirements
