Location: Gauteng, South Africa

Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Occupational Hygiene Officer to join our mining operation in Gauteng. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of occupational hygiene programs to ensure the health and safety of our employees in a mining environment. This position requires a strong understanding of mining operations and occupational health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for measuring, monitoring and reporting on surface and underground environmental conditions for occupational hygiene.
The roles responsibilities include maintaining air quality monitoring programs, data capturing, sampling, ensuring compliance with legislation and analysing results through a systematic approach.
Conduct regular inspections and assessments of workplace environments to identify hazards and assess risks related to occupational hygiene.
Develop and implement occupational hygiene programs, policies, and procedures to control exposure to harmful substances and prevent occupational illnesses.
Conduct air quality monitoring, noise monitoring, and other occupational hygiene testing as required.
Provide guidance and training to employees on occupational hygiene best practices and procedures.
Investigate and respond to employee complaints related to occupational hygiene concerns.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of occupational hygiene data and monitoring results.
Collaborate with other departments, HSE team, and management to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Stay current on industry trends and best practices related to occupational hygiene in mining operations.
Participate in incident investigations and assist in the development of corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12
• Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Occupational Hygiene Officer in the mining industry.
• Knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety regulations and standards in South Africa.
• Proficiency in conducting occupational hygiene testing and interpreting results.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
