Job Summary
Job Title: Paralegal
Duration: 3 Months
Number of Positions: 5
Salary: R25000 Per Month
Job Purpose
Our client is looking for 5 Paralegals to provide legal and administrative support for a period of 3 months. The successful candidates will assist with compliance processes, legal documentation, and legal research related to various legislative and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with legal compliance processes in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Draft legal documents, contracts, and correspondence under supervision.
- Support the team in the preparation and maintenance of legal records and files.
- Stay up to date on relevant legislation to ensure full compliance.
- Assist with matters related to professional conduct, disciplinary codes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Contribute to the implementation and adherence to CPD policies and continuing legal education requirements.
- Ensure alignment with tax practitioner regulatory criteria and applicable compliance requirements for business rescue practitioners.
- Conduct legal research and provide summaries or reports as needed.
Knowledge and Skills
Formal Education
- Legal qualification such as B Proc, LLB, or Paralegal Qualification is required.
- Completed Articles of Clerkship would be advantageous.
Technical/Legal Knowledge
- Understanding of:
- Member and professional compliance processes
- Codes of professional conduct
- Disciplinary procedures
- Tax Administration Act
- CPD policies
- Regulatory criteria for tax practitioners and business rescue practitioners
- All other applicable legislation and industry regulations
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience in a legal or compliance environment
- Strong legal drafting skills
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
Competencies
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy in legal documentation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical thinking and a proactive problem-solving approach
