About the Role
The Production & Technical Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing production processes in a manufacturing environment, ensuring that products meet quality standards while maintaining efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct production staff, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring performance.
- Ensure products meet quality standards by monitoring production processes and implementing quality control measures.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Ensure production activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Identify and resolve production issues, such as equipment breakdowns or quality problems.
- Work with other departments, such as quality control, maintenance, and logistics, to ensure smooth production operations.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment (tooling).
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify solutions.
- Conduct inspections and analyse issues to identify potential problems.
- Install new machinery and equipment.
- Replace or repair worn or damaged parts.
- Maintain records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Collaborate with superiors and other technicians to resolve complex issues.
- Ensure safety protocols and procedures are followed.
- Design new tooling on CAD when instructed to.
- Report any quality or potential quality issues that may occur with the machinery.
- Participate in production-related activities like setting, operating, and training personnel on machines.
- Act as the standby for the workshop supervisor.
- Report any production inefficiencies to the production controller or production planner.
Requirements
- Matric
- Relevant production qualification (an advantage)
- Millwright trade (an advantage)
- Strong technical expertise in a machine manufacturing environment – mechanical and electrical
- Production/technical experience in a lamination, plastic manufacturing background (preferred)
- Supervisory experience
- AutoCAD experience (a definite plus)
- Plastic extruding experience (a definite plus)
