Job Summary

Role Purpose The Skilled Boilermaker will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and modifying components and structures on commercial trailers, ensuring high-quality workmanship that meets safety and compliance standards. The role requires proficiency in reading technical drawings, welding, cutting, and working with heavy steel structures. Key Responsibilities Fabricate, assemble, and repair trailer components, frames, and structures. Carry out welding, cutting, and grinding tasks on heavy-duty commercial trailers. Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work orders. Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and compliance standards. Perform structural modifications and reinforcements as required. Operate workshop equipment and hand tools safely and effectively. Inspect completed work for accuracy, durability, and adherence to specifications. Collaborate with other trades (panel beaters, spray painters, fitters) to ensure workflow efficiency. Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with 5S and health & safety policies. Report material requirements, defects, or potential issues to supervisors. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5 years experience as a Boilermaker, preferably in heavy vehicle or trailer repair. Proven skills in MIG, TIG, and Arc welding on mild steel and high-strength steel. Experience in fabrication, cutting, grinding, and structural repair. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards in a workshop environment. Forklift or crane operation experience (advantageous). Skills & Competencies Strong welding and fabrication skills. Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability. High attention to detail with a commitment to quality. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Good teamwork and communication skills. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic. Physical Requirements Ability to work with heavy steel materials and equipment. Physically fit to perform welding, cutting, and manual handling tasks. Comfortable working in a workshop environment with noise, heat, and dust. Performance Indicators Quality and accuracy of fabricated/repair work. Adherence to safety standards and company policies. Efficiency and timeliness in completing jobs. Minimal rework or defects in completed tasks. Contribution to a safe, clean, and organized workshop environment.
