Hire Resolve’s Client is urgently seeking a talented and experienced TAF and E&S Manager to join their team , a leading pan-African investment bank . This full-time position will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and will involve significant travel.
As a TAF and E&S Manager , you will play a pivotal role in managing the technical assistance facility (“TAF”) and ensuring robust environmental and social (E&S) risk management across our investment portfolio. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth and sustainability of our investments in Inclusive Financial Institutions (IFIs) across Africa.
Responsibilities
- TAF Administration Management:
- Identify and evaluate relevant technical assistance (TA) projects for prospective portfolio companies, both during the investment process and post-investment.
- Lead the onboarding process for new TA projects, including proposal preparation, consultant selection, budget negotiations, and project coordination.
- Oversee all reporting and monitoring functions, including specific reporting to key TAF funders, measuring goals, impacts, and case studies.
- Manage the annual audit of the TAF and assist in its administration, including invoicing.
- Maintain and update TAF Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance with funders’ requirements and alignment with investment and E&S objectives.
- Monitor compliance of beneficiaries with the Funds E&S policies and exclusion lists.
- Maintain and update the list of prospective consultants for different types of technical assistance projects.
- E&S Management:
- Lead E&S risk analysis during transaction due diligence, in collaboration with the investment team.
- Coordinate with external consultants for E&S due diligence.
- Manage periodic and annual social performance and E&S reporting for the Fund and stakeholders.
- Maintain and update E&S policies, due diligence templates, reporting mechanisms, and tools.
- Facilitate internal trainings and knowledge sharing on E&S with the investment team and stakeholders.
- General:
- Undertake other tasks related to the TAF or E&S as required.
- Liaise with investors, internal stakeholders, and external parties on TAF and E&S matters.
- Represent the firm at conferences, webinars, and other events related to TAF and E&S.
- Support discussions with potential new investors.
- Undertake TAF and E&S related work for other funds that Verdant Capital may raise in the future
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience managing technical assistance projects and/or E&S management for or on behalf of impact investors or consultancies.
- Bachelors DegreeExperience working with or within microfinance institutions / IFIs is preferred.
- Experience working in Africa is advantageous.
- Professional qualifications commensurate with the responsibilities of the role.
