Job Summary
Hire resolve client seeks a dedicated Welder / Production Manager to join our team in the steel industry. This dual-role position involves managing production processes and leading welding projects to ensure high-quality execution in container conversions. The ideal candidate will oversee the project lifecycle from planning to completion, ensuring resource allocation, team supervision, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Project & Resource Management
- Develop project plans and manage resources to meet goals and timelines.
- Coordinate and supervise on-site project teams and ensure project targets are met.
- Track and manage project consumables effectively.
Fabrication & Welding
- Fabricate and assemble metal structures using various welding techniques.
- Operate welding equipment in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, ensuring quality and safety.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments to complete welding tasks.
Team Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise, motivate, and manage team performance on-site.
- Maintain and submit accurate timesheets and attendance records.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and production standards.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Regularly update clients on project progress and address any issues or concerns.
- Submit progress reports to senior management.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct site inspections and manage safety files, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
- Inspect machinery and equipment, confirming they are in safe working condition.
Requirements:
- Education: Matric Certificate or equivalent; Production Management qualification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in welding, site supervision, or project management, particularly within the steel industry.
- Licenses: Valid Drivers License required.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of the steel industry and welding processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Effective organizational, time management, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in report writing and administrative tasks.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on team motivation and safety compliance.
