Job Summary
POSITION:Maintenance FitterDEPARTMENT:Maintenance and TransportREPORTING TO:Facilities ManagerMINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Grade 12 (with Mathematics) preferredTrade Certificate as a Maintenance Fitter or MillwrightMINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 2 years experience in the manufacturing industry after completion of trade test Experience in general maintenance of plant and equipmentHydraulic and pneumatic experienceExperience in ARC, MIG and stainless steel TIG welding preferredExperience in the operation of milling and turning machines an advantageExtensive experience in the installation, movement and repair of equipment and machinery preferredSKILLS AND COMPETENCIESVerbal and written Communication skills in English as a minimum. Afrikaans an advantage Knowledge of boilers, chiller units and compressors advantageousAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesExcellent Attention to DetailStrong numeracy skillsBe able to work shifts and overtime when requiredKnowledge of pressure, hydraulic and pneumatic systemsSUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:Install, move or repair and maintain plant equipment to ensure maximum utilisationAction maintenance work orders as requiredPerform planned maintenance as per preventative maintenance checklist and plansPerform routine maintenance on vehicles as per Line Manager instructionsReport any problems with equipment to Line Manager if repair is not possibleAttend to breakdowns when called out after hours and retain record of work doneInterpretation of engineering drawings i.e. read, interpret and draw mechanical drawings and sketchesStripping, inspection, fault finding, dis-assembly and re-assembly of machinery or vehiclesMachining of materials for cutting, welding and bendingEffectively use power tools, hand tools, measuring tools and equipment for cutting, welding and brazingFabricate and repair parts, using instrumentation and equipment while maintaining a safe and clean working environmentAlign machines (jacks, hoists etc.)Perform basic maintenance on the vehicle as per Line Managers instructionsOperate trucks and overhead crane (if in possession of valid license)Work in accordance with Maintenance Work InstructionsWork at Heights. Ensure required PPE is worn and you are fit to work at heights (if in possession of valid license)Perform condition inspections on plant equipment when requested and generate report of findingsWork in accordance with HR, Quality & SHE PoliciesCarry out any other work, within reason, as per Supervisors instructionsFemale Applicants are encouraged to apply.
