Our Resort in Knysna is looking for a professional and safety-conscious Barge Skipper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating our passenger barge, ensuring safe navigation and delivering exceptional guest experiences on the Knysna Lagoon. Key Responsibilities: Safely operate the Resorts barge for guest cruises, transfers, and special events. Conduct pre-departure checks and ensure all safety equipment is in place and compliant. Navigate the vessel in line with SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority) regulations. Provide excellent guest service and act as a knowledgeable and welcoming host. Maintain logbooks, safety records, and ensure the barge is kept in good condition. Respond effectively to any incidents or emergencies on the water. Requirements : Valid SAMSA Skippers Ticket Category C (Inshore: up to 15 nautical miles from shore, suitable for lagoon/estuary operations) or higher. Valid Certificate of Competency (CoC) . Valid SAMSA Medical Fitness Certificate . First Aid Certificate . Passenger Vessel Endorsement (advantageous). Minimum 2 years practical experience skippering passenger vessels, ideally barges or similar. Strong knowledge of Knysna Lagoon and surrounding waters will be an advantage.
