Job Summary
Location: Kriel
Duration: 6 Months
Grade: C4
We are recruiting a Safety Officer to ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) for a high-profile mining program. The role involves implementing safety initiatives, conducting incident investigations, and managing risk across a heavy industrial environment.
Requirements:
- National Diploma/ BTech: Safety Management
- COMSOC 1 & 2 Certification
- First Line Management Certificate
- 4 years experience in mining/heavy industry safety operations
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Compliance: Implement MHSA (Reg 2.191), conduct audits, and ensure ISO/OHSA adherence
- Risk Management: Lead HIRA, close out non-conformances, and monitor contractor safety
- Incident Investigations: Root-cause analysis and reporting per legal standards
- Training & Culture: Coach SHE Reps, conduct VFL engagements, and deliver safety training
- Reporting: Compile monthly legal/statistical reports for management
