Job Description The Commercial Underwriter will be responsible for assessing, quoting, and managing commercial short-term insurance policies in line with company guidelines and risk appetite. This role includes handling new business, renewals, and endorsements; providing brokers with accurate underwriting advice; ensuring high service standards; and maintaining a profitable book through sound risk decisions and strong broker relationships. Candidates must have solid commercial underwriting experience, strong technical knowledge, good communication skills, and the ability to work accurately under pressure within a fast-paced brokerage environment. Qualifications Matric (Grade 12) Essential. RE5 Advantageous / Required depending on client. Relevant Short-Term Insurance Qualification (NQF 4/5 or higher) Advantageous. CPD compliance. Skills Strong underwriting and risk assessment capability. Understanding of insurance legal principles. Proficiency in industry systems Cardinal Strong negotiation & communication skills. Ability to interpret policy wordings and endorsements.
