Kwazulu-Natal: Unit Manager: Surgical ICU posted by Hire Resolve

Hire Resolve Client is looking for an experienced Unit Manager to join their team in Dolphin Coast/Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and ensure the delivery of safe, cost-effective, and quality patient care in line with clinical governance standards and evidence-based practices.
• Evaluate nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
• Coordinate training, development, and mentoring programs for nursing staff to enhance their skills and professional growth.
• Monitor staff performance, manage attendance, and ensure adequate coverage in the unit at all times.
• Manage unit activities, including addressing irregularities and policy violations, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, policies, and relevant healthcare legislation.
• Control and monitor the use of drugs and emergency stock in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Identify opportunities for quality improvement and develop strategies to enhance patient care services.
• Participate in the implementation of National Core Standards and other quality initiatives.
• Conduct patient rounds regularly to ensure a high standard of customer-centric service.
• Foster effective working relationships with medical practitioners, hospital management, patients, and other stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding care plans and progress.

Requirements:

• Diploma in General Nursing or a Bachelor of Nursing (B Cur) degree.
• Post-basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing is essential.
• Additional qualification in Nursing Management is advantageous.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse
• A minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience in ICU settings.
• At least 1 year of experience in a management or senior supervisory role within a hospital environment.
