KwaZulu-Natal: Zmo 17572 – Management Couple: Field Guide & Assistant Lodge Manager
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed field guide and assistant lodge manager couple to join our team in a private game reserve in KwaZulu-Natal. This is a live-in role suitable for a pair who thrive in the bush, work well in small teams, and bring a positive and friendly attitude to daily operations.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced field guide with a valid PDP and driver’s license, as well as DEAT registration and FGASA Level 1 certification. A minimum of two years of guiding experience is required. The couple should also possess strong communication skills, a calm demeanor under pressure, and the ability to work independently.
As assistant lodge manager, the successful candidate will oversee daily operations and guest experience, handling in-camp issues efficiently and independently. They should have hospitality qualification, valid driver’s license, and First Aid Level 1 certification (preferred). A minimum of one year of experience in a similar role is required. The ideal candidate should possess strong initiative, excellent staff management skills, and the ability to maintain positive team dynamics.
Key responsibilities for both positions include:
Field Guide:
Conduct engaging game drives and bush walks
Deliver exceptional guest experiences and interpretive guiding
Assist with lodge and vehicle maintenance tasks
Ensure compliance with safety, reserve, and conservation protocols
Assistant Lodge Manager:
Oversee daily lodge operations and guest experience
Handle in-camp issues efficiently and independently
Manage staff respectfully and maintain positive team dynamics
Assist with stock control, ordering, and basic administration
Maintain professional communication with management, guests, and suppliers
