A vacancy exist in the Quality Department for a Metrologist who will be responsible for fulfilling the requirements and duties of the Metrology Room. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Create Measuring Programs for measurement of new and existing wheels Provide effective feedback to all relevant departments, if dimensional deviations or defects identified Prepare APQP/PPAP/ISIR documentation according to Customer requirements Participate in Problem solving activities, FMEA/Control Plan Meetings (Part of APQP) Conduct Routine testing and Product audits Take the lead on Gauging designs, approval and also creating work instructions thereof Calibration – Maintain calibration status of all existing gauges and instruments – inclusive of physical verification of instruments in accordance with works instructions, as well as all relevant documentation. Manage external calibration processes. Draft and follow MSA Plan relative to required R&R studies Conduct Capability studies/ad-hoc measurements as part of investigations; lead investigations into wheels not meeting requirements Documentation and record – Maintain relevant filing systems (including drawings and measuring reports, registers and issue levels). QUALIFICATIONS: A tertiary qualification, e.g., ND Mech Eng or BTech Quality Minimum Matric with Maths and Science Certificate in CMM Measuring/3D Scanning Quality specific training in VDA6.3, IATF16949, Core Tools and CSR`s WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years work experience in a factory environment Understanding and utilization of PC-DMIS CMM Software is essential Should have thorough knowledge of the entire plant processes Thorough knowledge of SA Quality Standards Experience with SPC/MSA/APQP/8D concepts OTHER REQUIREMENTS Understand CMM Measuring equipment Thorough knowledge of Sampling process Ability to interpret technical drawings Ability to work under pressure, lead a team and be a team-player Ability to be pro-active, good time management skills Honest, have integrity and good communication skills Excellent attendance record Computer literacy is essential (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, MiniTab, 3D Scanning) Must have a valid Drivers Licence (own transport preferable)
