Job Summary

Our client, an ever expanding mine outside of Middelburg is seeking to employ an experienced and suitably qualified Metallurgical Manager Process Plan and Direct all Metallurgical work on site Direct, plan, schedule and coordinate detail phases of metallurgical work within a specific project scope Manage the overall design of process flowsheets, plant layouts, material handling systems, manpower requirements, equipment procurement and material utilization for new projects Develop an ongoing strategic plan to meet present and future metallurgical needs Provide technical expertise for the plant operating performance, reduce waste and delays, promote cost reductions and achieve a high level of operating efficiency Evaluate current and potential processing methods Create and manage budgets according to Company plans Provide ongoing technical input to the development and implementation of plant strategies and flow sheet concepts to support production objectives and optimize financial results Deliver on the operating plan Implement, monitor and control business processes according to quality standards, policy, and compliance and governance requirements Ensure the development, alignment, mapping and implementation of end-to-end standard operating procedures / processes Research, enable and consult on improvements and opportunities to harness technology Provide Technical support to the operation team Translate technical specifications into an operations plan Analyse the recorded technical data and suggest process and technical improvements where necessary Function as a Metallurgical Engineering subject matter expert Provide metallurgical technical expertise to technicians, metallurgists and process plant operators Improve and adapt processes to create efficiencies Advise on improvement opportunities or changing legislation Monitor metallurgical performance and coach technicians / specialists on conducting tests to improve throughput and recovery Finance Monitor costs or expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste Comply with cost controls in order to achieve section budget Report on cost usage that reflects delivery of planned work within agreed parameters Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and to streamline processes Identify repeat failures that contribute to wastage Ensure good governance including the effective use of management systems to monitor compliance to business direction and policies Ensure financial documentation is maintained to support accurate record keeping and future requirements as per legislation Escalate potential risks that may lead to increased costs or financial losses Work of the Role (KPA) Description of Output / KPA Stakeholder Relationships Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation Build professional long-term relationships with stakeholders Ensure customer service solutions are aligned to the operational business plan Ensure product knowledge and advice is technically accurate and provide stakeholders with relevant information to keep them informed of products and service options Ensure timeous resolution of stakeholder queries and complaints and take ownership of issues People Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports Clearly define goals and objectives and provide direction, coaching and regular feedback Ensure compliance with all HR policies, procedures and standards Ensure conflict resolution and respond to any complaints or concerns Support skills development and transfer initiatives Ensure that all team members are competent to deliver the outputs of their jobs within a specified time after being appointed in the position Reporting Provide Feedback to be used in reports Ensure complete, timeous and accurate reporting with appropriate levels of escalation to enable effective decision-making Ensure feedback and progress reporting to stakeholders Adhere to statutory standards, policies and procedures within the business unit to ensure compliance at all times and take remedial action where necessary Monitor, analyse and audit the key business processes and metrics KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Minimum skills required Minimum Qualification Preferred Qualification B-Tech/ B.Sc. Degree in Metallurgy Role Specific Knowledge Required Level Environmental management and systems Legal and regulatory environment requirements Mining environment Biodiversity and ecosystems Proficient Technical Skill Ability to apply Knowledge Level of Proficiency Computer literacy Communication skills Dense Medium Separation Proficient EXPERIENCE REQUIRED At least 5 years experience in a coal processing plant of which 3 years is at senior management level. Languages: Eng /well versed in south African local languages As per our clients requirements, a clear criminal history is required
