About the Role

We are seeking a high-performance General Manager to lead a strategically located 4-star business hotel in Midrand. This property is a high-volume operation serving as a primary hub for corporate travelers and large-scale events in the Midrand/Waterfall corridor. The successful candidate will manage a property that balances upscale accommodation with a significant conferencing footprint, requiring a leader who is as comfortable with high-level strategy as they are with the floor mechanics of a 300-delegate event.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all core departments (Rooms, Maintenance, Finance, and Security) for a 113-unit inventory comprising standard rooms, executive units, and suites.
Manage a high-demand event center. You must ensure seamless execution for multiple simultaneous bookings, ranging from executive boardrooms to large halls hosting up to 300 delegates.
Drive occupancy and RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room) by leveraging the hotel’s proximity to major convention centers and corporate headquarters.
Take full P&L (Profit and Loss) accountability to ensure the property meets its GOP (Gross Operating Profit) targets.
Work with the sales team to maximize ADR (Average Daily Rate) through aggressive corporate and government segment targeting.
Maintain high GSI (Guest Satisfaction Index) scores by ensuring 4-star standards are upheld across all guest touchpoints and housekeeping protocols.
Oversee OPEX (Operating Expenditure) to ensure the physical integrity of the property is maintained without compromising profitability.

Requirements

6 years as a General Manager or Deputy General Manager in a 4-star corporate hotel environment.
A proven track record in managing large-scale, high-turnover conferencing operations is non-negotiable.
A “visible” leader who manages from the front, especially during high-pressure corporate check-in periods and live event days.
Advanced knowledge of industry-standard PMS (Property Management Systems) and yield management tools.
Strong familiarity with the Gauteng corporate landscape and the Gallagher-area event cycles.
