Job Summary
Our client, situated in Muizenberg, is a food manufacturing facility operating under extreme food safety conditions and standards. The companys Maintenance Department is looking for a Trade-Tested Fitter to work as a Maintenance Fitter in the factory (but not limited to working in this area only). The ideal candidate has experience in the FMCG industry. The job incumbent will report to the Maintenance Manager.
Duties:
- Adhering to quality and food safety policies, rules and regulations
- Adhering to and implementing standard operating procedures and food safety specifications & procedures
- Performing cleaning and sanitation procedures according to standard operating procedures
- Diagnosing mechanical issues and troubleshooting faults to determine necessary repairs required
- Conducting maintenance on FMCG machinery
- Performing breakdown and preventative maintenance (according to schedule) on machinery (packing machines, printers, X-Ray machines) to ensure optimal functionality and minimise downtime
- Maintaining accurate records of job cards and spares via I-Comply system
- Conducting general building repair work (painting, plumbing, servicing lights & building, cleaning tanks)
- Reading and understanding technical manuals and diagrams/drawings
- Working with interfaces (pneumatics / hydraulics)
- Collaborating with other team members to address maintenance needs promptly
- Providing assistance to external contractors and/or service providers
Requirements:
- Matric qualification
- Trade Tested Fitter
- At least 5 years of experience post Trade Test qualification
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter or a similar role within a Production / Packaging / Manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read technical manuals and drawings
- Familiarity with pneumatic and electrical systems
- Computer literate (MS Office, D365 or similar ERP systems)
- Experience or understanding of how to operate Computerised Maintenance Systems (i-Comply)
- Food factory and food safety experience will be an advantage
- Health and Safety training and experience will strengthen the application
- Must be willing to work shifts
- Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
