About the Role
We are seeking an Enrolled Nurse to join our team at Complete Healthcare Services in the Northern Cape region. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with patients in their homes or facilities, providing high-quality care and support. Your duties will involve caring for patients with various conditions, including tracheostomies, dementia, and quadriplegia, as well as administering medications, documenting patient progress, and managing daily living activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide basic care to patients, including washing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and support with moving and toileting
- Assist with personal hygiene and administer medications under the supervision of a registered nurse or family member
- Monitor patients’ vitals and record changes in their condition
- Perform basic wound care and manage feeds for tracheostomy babies using a feeding pump
- Observe patient conditions, record changes, and write reports in good English
- Assess sleep routines and discuss with registered nurses to adjust care plans accordingly
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, patients, and family members
Requirements
- Strong understanding of treatment plans set out by other team members (doctor, NSM, or physiotherapist)
- Good communication skills with supervisors, colleagues, patients, and family members
- Knowledge of dealing with emergency situations in patient homes
- Knowledge of Geriatric Care, Paediatric Care, Dementia Care, Post Stroke Care, Ventilation Care
- Good knowledge of Catheter care (indwelling, supra pubic, intermittent)
- Prevention of pressure sores in bedridden patients
- Experience with trachea care or observation of tracheostomy patients
- Suctioning of trachea patients
- Prevention of infection in all patients
Qualifications
- Diploma as a qualified Enrolled Nurse
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Receipt of diploma and SANC registration required
