About the Role
We are seeking an Enrolled Nurse to join our team in the Northern Cape region, providing high-quality care to patients in the comfort of their homes or facilities. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with patients who require specialized care, including those with tracheostomies, dementia, quadriplegia, and palliative needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide basic care and assist with personal hygiene (washing, dressing, grooming, feeding, support with moving, toileting)
- Administer medications under supervision of the registered nurse or family
- Document patients’ condition and progress
- Monitor vital signs and record changes
- Perform basic wound care
- Manage feeds for tracheostomy babies using a feeding pump
- Observe changes in patient conditions and report to registered nurses
- Write reports in good English
Requirements
- Strong understanding of treatment plans set out by other team members (doctor, NSM, physiotherapist)
- Good communication skills with supervisors, colleagues, patients, and family members
- Knowledge of dealing with emergency situations in a patient’s home
- Knowledge of Geriatric Care, Paediatric Care, Dementia Care, Post Stroke Care, Ventilation Care
- Good knowledge of Catheter care (indwelling, supra pubic, intermittent)
- Good knowledge of prevention of pressure sores in bedridden patients
- Good knowledge of trachea care or experience working with tracheostomy patients
Qualifications
- Diploma as a qualified Enrolled Nurse
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
