About the Role
The Warehouse Manager will oversee all aspects of cold storage operations, ensuring efficient receiving, storage, picking, and dispatch processes. This role involves leading a large warehouse team, maintaining quality control, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day warehouse operations in a temperature-controlled environment
- Lead and develop supervisors, forklift operators, pickers, and general warehouse staff
- Implement and monitor process controls, including scanning and stock movement tracking
- Ensure adherence to quality control procedures, hygiene, and cold chain compliance
- Investigate and resolve incidents, including stock loss, damage, and non-conformances
- Track key operational metrics including throughput, utilization, and accuracy
- Maintain health, safety, and food safety compliance
- Coordinate with logistics, maintenance, IT/WMS, and customer service teams
- Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives
- Manage warehouse budgets, including labour and refrigeration costs
- Schedule staff shifts and overtime based on operational needs
- Handle basic HR functions such as recruitment, coaching, and disciplinary action
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse management within cold storage or frozen goods
- Proven experience with process controls and scanning/tracking systems
- Knowledge of food safety, health & safety, and regulatory compliance
- Experience using WMS and related warehouse technologies
- Matric certificate required; tertiary qualification in logistics/supply chain preferred
