About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and creative Head Chef to lead our luxury hotel group in Plettenberg Bay. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences that meet the highest standards of quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the kitchen brigade, ensuring high levels of productivity, consistency, and quality
- Design and execute innovative menus that align with the property’s standard and guest expectations
- Ensure all food preparation and presentation meet the hotel’s quality standards
- Manage kitchen operations including inventory control, cost management, and hygiene compliance
- Recruit, train, and mentor kitchen staff, promoting team development and performance excellence
- Oversee food safety and sanitation standards in accordance with health regulations
- Work closely with F&B management to ensure seamless service delivery
- Monitor guest feedback and implement necessary improvements to enhance the dining experience
Requirements
- Relevant culinary qualification or equivalent professional certification
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior chef position within a 5-star hotel or fine dining environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent knowledge of modern cooking techniques and plating styles
- Strong financial acumen with experience in food cost control and budgeting
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a high level of attention to detail
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior chef position within a 5-star hotel or fine dining environment
