Job Description
Our client in the Short-Term Insurance Industry is currently looking to employ a Commercial Underwriter based in Port Elizabeth.
Applicants must have commercial lines experience and Short Term Insurance Qualification.
RE5 qualification would be advantageous.
Requirements:
- Matric and Full Short Term Insurance Qualification.
- Must have commercial lines experience.
- Date of First Appointment on the FSCA Representative Register with Licence Categories in Short Term Insurance: Personal and Commercial Lines.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years commercial underwriting / policy administration experience.
- Drivers Licence and Own Transport.
- TIAL system knowledge advantageous.
- Effective communication skills, written and verbal, with a friendly disposition.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to:
- Attending policy renewals.
- Ensuring that renewals are distributed timeously and that underwriting deadlines are met.
- Inception of new business policies and data capturing.
- Ensuring feedback is sent to broker, advising of sums insured or confirming policy changes.
- Assist client with all documentation and short-term insurance cover requirements, from quotation to finalisation of cover.
- Ensuring all required documentation is followed up and completed.
- Validation of endorsements and amendments on policies, Re-Insurance requirements and Assist cover.
- Checking that instructions given to Insurer are correctly done on policy schedules received.
- Handling all broker enquiries and providing appropriate solution process.
- Drafting cover confirmation letters for distribution to clients.
- Recording of document flow on electronic filing system.
- Attendance of policy renewals and acceptances.
