Port Elizabeth: Handyman

Purpose of the Role: The purpose of this role is to provide effective support to the Maintenance Department by carrying out general facility maintenance, ensuring the upkeep of company buildings and equipment, and assisting technical staff with ad hoc tasks. The Handyman is responsible for maintaining a safe, functional, and well-kept working environment through daily repair work, preventative maintenance activities, and compliance with housekeeping and inspection requirements. Key Responsibilities: The handyman will report directly to the Maintenance Section Leader. The handyman will be responsible for all facility maintenance work. From time to time, he must assist the plant electrician & maintenance technician with ad hock duties. All plumbing work to adhered to. Responsible for maintaining the housekeeping of paint shop / sandblast room filters / maintenance workshop. Fill out a daily report on work completed to Maintenance Section Leader. Responsible for monitoring the energy consumption & water consumption usage per month. Must have a forecast plan weekly & monthly. Responsible for repairs to pneumatic tools (impact guns, drills, grinders) Responsible for minor repairs to forklifts (including spot checks on a weekly basis) Repair toilets & water leaks. Responsible for ladder & lifting tackle inspections Responsible for changing ceiling boards, lights, fans etc Assist plant electrician & maintenance technician with inhouse servicing of equipment & machinery Roof repairs to a certain extent (discretion of the Maintenance Section Leader /Maintenance Manager. Adhoc function related to the job. Minimum Requirements: Matric or equivalent Minimum 5 years experiences in a manufacturing environment.
