Telematics Technician

Our client, in the construction industry is seeking an Installations Technician (Auto)

who, will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing camera systems, sensor systems access control and vehicle tracking systems

Location: Port Elizabeth/ Gqeberha

Job type: Permanent – On site

Duties and Responsibilities

• Install telematics and tracking devices in vehicles, trucks, or heavy equipment.
• Configure, test, and calibrate telematics systems to ensure proper functionality.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on telematics hardware and wiring.
• Diagnose and resolve telematics faults, connectivity issues, and software/hardware malfunctions.
• Ensure compliance with installation standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
• Provide technical support and attend to breakdowns as required.
• Document installations, repairs, and maintenance performed.
• Provide feedback to management on recurring technical issues or product improvements.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric/Grade 12 with technical or electrical subjects
• 23 years experience as a technician in telematics, auto-electrical, or similar field.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and diagnostics.
• Valid drivers license (Code 08).
• Willingness to work flexible hours when required.

• Strong technical and problem-solving ability.
• Good understanding of telematics systems.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in installations.
• Strong communication skills.
