Job Description

Our client, a prominent brand in the FMCG Manufacturing Sector; is seeking to employ an experienced Production Manager to their team based in Port Elizabeth.

Proven experience in WCM and TPS coupled with 58 years production management experience in FMCG manufacturing secures!

This role is a senior management role with a remuneration package commensurate with experience.

Requirements:

  • Strong operational and manufacturing leadership experience in the CPG or FMCG industry.
  • Experience in TPM, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma tools and concepts.
  • Proven experience in WCM and TPS.
  • Engineering or Manufacturing degree.
  • 58 years experience in FMCG manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated abilities in analytics, problem-solving, and team building.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of industrial maintenance and manufacturing equipment.
  • Working knowledge and experience in Industrial Relations and union stakeholder management.
  • SAP and ERP system proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-performing teams and implement process improvements.
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement and results delivery.

Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Manage change and transformation amongst the operating teams in the implementation of Integrated Lean Six Sigma (IL6S) phase journey and Factory of the Future line-centric organization and roles.
  • Support the manufacturing annual operational plans and targets to meet Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Sustainability, and Engagement goals in line with the sites business needs.
  • Coach line leaders, cascade and communicate the plans and targets to employees to ensure alignment and understanding around priorities, focus, and KPIs.
  • Establish strong governance to review, control operational performance, and develop continuous improvement plans.
  • Embed a zero-loss mindset to constantly improve and deliver against best-in-class performance both internally and externally.
  • Drive the operating team to identify and manage improvements to technology, culture, capability, and operating systems to deliver reliable and efficient operations.
  • Ensure all manufacturing standards, governance, and compliance requirements related to Quality, Food Safety, GMP, Health, Safety, Security, Environment, Sustainability, and Operational Standards are in place and effectively implemented.
  • Lead and be accountable for talent, capabilities, and engagement within the manufacturing team.
  • Identify and implement critical levers to attract, retain, and develop key talent while building capability at all levels.
  • Partner effectively with multifunctional peers internally and externally to achieve objectives, goals, and KPIs.
  • Drive supply chain transformation and ensure the development of teams and succession planning.
  • Manage high-performing teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including unions.
  • Translate departmental strategy and vision into actionable execution plans.
