Job Summary

My client in the manufacturing / automotive industry is seeking to employ a Toolmaker on CONTRACT basis. Duties include: This position will be an integral part of the maintenance team and will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of press tools and other equipment Repair and maintain press tools Routine servicing and regrinding of tools Attend breakdowns, identify faults and problem solve at the press with minimal downtime to assist production Evaluate each job and determine if it can be repaired in press or must be removed to Tool Room for essential maintenance and repair work Estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timelines Report breakdowns, root causes and equipment faults to management Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems Support new project tooling from commissioning stages through to start of production Manufacture new tooling and ancillary spares to support production activity and customer deadlines Carry out engineering level changes to tools and modifications Minimum

Requirements:

Matric/ Grade 12 or equivalent Qualified Toolmaker with 3 years qualified experience Previous experience in a metal processing environment will be advantageous Understanding of manufacturing processes Understanding of Lean manufacturing Strong fault-finding skills. Must be able to read technical, electrical and mechanical drawings. Must be qualified to work at heights.
