Job Description
We are seeking a Engine Assembler learner at a Automotive company in Kimberley.
Duties:
- Construct and assemble machines and engines.
- Use hoists to position and align components.
- Perform testing, verify functioning, and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Install piping, fixtures, wiring, electrical components, and gear systems.
- Align and mesh gears in gearboxes.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Verify part conformity and clearances using callipers, gauges, and micrometres.
- Smooth, trim, or fit surfaces with power tools; repair or replace damaged parts.
- Operate milling, grinding, and other metalworking machines for shaping/fabricating parts.
- Inspect subassemblies and perform fault finding for warranty failures.
- Lubricate, grease, and maintain components.
- Drill, ream, tap, or cut parts for assembly.
- Assemble other machines as required; update and repair parts regularly.
- Set up and run engines on Dyno according to prescribed methods.
- Follow up on parts supply and complete engine builds within set timelines.
- Inspect newly arrived parts for fit, size, and function.
- Be available for occasional field service work.
Requirements:
- Proficient with precision measuring tools (callipers, gauges, micrometres).
- Able to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Experience operating metalworking machines (milling, grinding) for part fabrication.
- Strong fault-finding capability, including warranty failure analysis.
- Experience setting up and running engines on a Dyno according to prescribed methods.
- NQF 4 / N1N3 with 35 years engine assembly/automotive machining experience.
- Trade Test qualification (Automotive Machinist/Diesel Mechanic) advantageous.
- Knowledge of hydraulics and auto-electrical systems advantageous.
