Our client in the automotive industry is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Database Consultant (Senior) to join their dynamic global IT team. This is an exciting long-term opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud database services (PostgreSQL) within a modern, fast-paced, and collaborative environment. Youll play a key role in designing, automating, and optimizing cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable solutions that power the future of mobility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for cloud database services, focusing on integration with’s existing systems and processes.
  
• Create and maintain scripts and tools to automate routine tasks, deployments, and configurations across cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).
  
• Collaborate with the global security team to implement and automate security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance controls.
  
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database and application deployments in cloud environments.
  
•  Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
  
• Automate monitoring, alerting, and reporting processes for cloud database services.
  
• Work with the development teams to integrate automated processes into self-service portals.
  
• Collaborate with Cloud Database Engineers to automate database management tasks, including provisioning, scaling, and maintenance.
  
• Develop and maintain documentation for all automation processes and tools.
  
• Continuously evaluate and implement new automation technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency and reliability.
  
• Provide guidance and mentorship on automation best practices to other team members in the South African hub and globally.
  
• Ensure that automation solutions comply with local South African regulations and Groups global standards.
  
• Take responsibility for delivering high-quality outcomes on time.
  
• Work as part of a globally distributed team in fast-paced environments.
  

Requirements

Advantageous Skills Requirements:

• Experience with database management and automation in cloud environments.
  
• Knowledge of compliance requirements in the automotive industry and South African data protection regulations.
  
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  
• Understanding of network security concepts and implementation in cloud environments.
  
• Experience working in a global, multi-cultural team environment.
  
• Agile development experience (e.g., Scrum)
  
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring
  
• Familiarity with tools like Confluence and Jira
  
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  

Qualifications and Experience:

• Educational Background: – Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT automation, with at least 3 years focused on cloud technologies
  
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert).
  
• Demonstrated expertise in Agile working methods.
