Job Summary
A Mercedes Benz dealership in Pretoria is looking for a Mercedes Benz qualified Motor Vehicle Technician to join their Service Department.
Requirements:
- Red Seal Trade Test (Motor Vehicle)
- 3 years experience post qualified
- Mercedes Benz qualified (non-negotiable)
- Diagnostic training
Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Conduct routine vehicle servicing, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
- Replace faulty parts such as brakes, filters, and spark plugs.
- Diagnostics and Troubleshooting
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
- Analyze error codes and recommend appropriate repairs.
- Perform test drives to verify issues and confirm repairs.
- Electrical and Electronic System Repairs
- Diagnose and repair faults in vehicle electrical systems, such as batteries, starters, and alternators.
- Handle issues related to vehicle sensors, ECU (Engine Control Unit), and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).
- Engine and Transmission Repairs
- Inspect and repair engine components, including timing belts, fuel injectors, and cooling systems.
- Diagnose and fix transmission issues, including manual and automatic gearboxes.
- Vehicle Testing and Quality Assurance
- Conduct post-repair inspections to ensure functionality and safety compliance.
- Use specialized equipment like oscilloscopes and scan tools for advanced diagnostics.
- Customer Communication
- Explain diagnostic findings and repair recommendations to customers in a clear manner.
- Provide cost estimates for repairs and obtain customer approval before proceeding.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of diagnostics, repairs, and parts used.
- Update service logs and ensure compliance with warranty requirements.
- Workshop Maintenance
- Keep workstations clean and organized.
- Ensure diagnostic tools and equipment are in proper working order.
- Adherence to Safety Standards
- Follow safety protocols when handling vehicles and equipment.
- Stay updated on industry safety practices and regulations.
- Continual Learning
- Stay informed about new diagnostic tools, vehicle technologies, and repair techniques.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance skills.
Salary:
