Job Description

Key Responsibilities ✔ Support month-end and year-end close processes ✔ Manage accounting operations including fixed assets and revenue recognition ✔ Prepare AFS and disclosure schedules ✔ Perform expense analysis and financial data analysis ✔ Assist with stock counts ✔ Payroll reconciliations and accounting journals ✔ Monthly GL maintenance and reconciliations ✔ Maintain fixed asset register, WIP account, and ensure IFRS compliance ✔ Handle lease accounting in accordance with IFRS ✔ Prepare and publish timely monthly management accounts ✔ Prepare AFS for all group entities ✔ Co-ordinate regulatory reporting ✔ Bank signatory: review & release local/foreign payments and payroll ✔ Maintain loan schedules & quarterly shareholder loan confirmations ✔ Participate in budgeting and forecasting ✔ Prepare budget analysis and reports ✔ Prepare and submit all tax returns (VAT, Income Tax, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Carbon Tax, etc.) ✔ Ensure full SARS compliance and deadline management ✔ Co-ordinate and participate in audits ✔ Handle annual insurance risk declarations & finance risk management ✔ Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance Requirements ➡ B.Com Accounting degree (minimum) ➡ 5 years relevant accounting experience within a manufacturing environment ➡ Newly qualified CA(SA) highly advantageous ➡ Experience with JDE / QlikView / Hubble desired ➡ Strong technical accounting knowledge and excellent attention to detail Why Join Us? 🌱 Stable and growing business 📈 Opportunities for career development 🤝 Supportive team environment 🏭 Exposure to a dynamic manufacturing and recycling operation

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team in Pretoria. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in managing our accounting operations and ensuring compliance with IFRS regulations. You will be responsible for supporting month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements, and providing financial insights to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes and maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Manage accounting operations, including fixed assets, WIP, revenue recognition, payroll, and lease accounting (IFRS compliance).
  • Prepare and post journals, reconciliations, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare and publish monthly management accounts and assist with annual financial statements and regulatory reporting.
  • Participate in forecasting and budgeting, including budget analysis and reporting.
  • Review and release local and foreign payments, maintain loan schedules, and reconcile shareholder loans.
  • Prepare and submit all tax returns and ensure compliance with SARS regulations.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in audit processes, manage finance risks, and ensure internal controls are robust.
  • Assist with operational analyses, stock counts, and other ad-hoc financial reporting requirements.
  • Manage insurance declarations and ensure compliance with governance and technical accounting standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • CA(SA) qualification advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (JDE essential; QlikView and Hubble advantageous).
  • Advanced Excel skills including financial modelling, formulas, and analysis.
  • Proven experience in preparing financial statements and cost & management accounting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of risk, insurance management, and compliance with IFRS.

Job Title: Senior Accountant – Pretoria Office

A well-established company based in Pretoria North is seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to take ownership of the finance function up to reporting level. The role is ideal for a technically strong accountant who can handle stock, payroll, and month-end processes in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Full financial function (FFF) including payroll
General ledger processing up to trial balance
