Job Summary
Responsibilities Analyse Learning Material Analyse learning material to ensure that is updated and user friendly Work with Subject Matter Experts, training officers and learning and development professional to identify gaps in learning material and make changes where necessary Analyse the learning aims of programmes and design solutions (classroom, technology and blended) that align with these Conduct needs analyses, including assessing learning needs, audience, and placement In collaboration with the learning and development specialist prepare for and conduct workshop Incorporate workshop findings into programme and curriculum design Programme design, including formulating high-level solution outcomes, curriculum structure, delivery design, and programme evaluation Analyse and select appropriate technologies for use Organise and place content for effective learning, grounded in learning theory and design principles Curriculum Design and Content Development In respect of Needs Assessment: Collaborates with stakeholders to identify and assess learning needs, goals, and objectives. Analyses data and feedback to determine the gap between current and desired knowledge or skills. In respect Learning Strategy Development: Creates comprehensive learning strategies tailored to the target audience and learning objectives. Selects appropriate learning methods, tools, and technologies to facilitate effective learning experiences. Designs structured learning paths or curricula to ensure a cohesive and progressive learning journey. In respect of Curriculum Design: Develops instructional materials, including courses, modules, and learning resources. Defines learning objectives, outcomes, and assessments to measure learner progress. Ensures alignment with industry standards, best practices, and relevant learning theories. In respect of Technology Integration: Utilizes e-learning platforms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and other educational technologies to enhance the learning experience. Incorporates multimedia elements, gamification, and interactive content to engage learners. In respect of Content Creation and Curation: Generates or curate learning materials, including text, video, and interactive content. Keeps content up-to-date and relevant by monitoring industry trends and feedback. In respect of Evaluation and Improvement: Implements assessment methods to measure the effectiveness of learning strategies. Continuously analyses and reviews learning programmes, adjusting, and improvements based on feedback and data. In respect of Learning Support: Provides guidance and support to learners, instructors, or facilitators. Fosters a positive learning environment and help when learners encounter challenges. In respect of Policy Alignment and Compliance: Stays up-to-date with emerging educational trends and technologies. Integrates innovative approaches to learning strategy design and stays updated on labour laws, regulations, and industry best practices that impact Organizations learning strategies. Ensures that learning strategy design practices are compliant with all relevant laws and Organization policies. Develops and update People policies to reflect changes in employment regulations. Ensures that any grants or external funding received for learning initiatives are used in compliance with grant guidelines and regulations. Stays informed about emerging learning technologies and their potential applications. Evaluates the suitability of new technologies for improving the learning strategy. Identifies potential risks associated with learning strategy initiatives and develop risk mitigation plans to address any issues that may arise during the process. Applies design thinking to understand employee needs and listen to incorporate feedback. Implements and monitors subjective experiences of employees to learning strategy initiatives through processes, systems, and human touch points. Assist People Partners in accordance with learning strategy design understanding and comprehension. Maintains detailed records and documentation of learning strategy design initiatives and provide regular reports to leadership and stakeholders on progress, challenges, and achievements. Develop standard learning templates: for both online and classroom training In collaboration with learning and development professionals, training officers, subject matter experts develop content syllabus, course introduction, learning outcomes, instructional topics/ modules (material), activities, assignments, discussions, presentations, assessments, pre-work, and facilitator notes Migrate traditional classroom content to the learner management system Develop innovative ideas for e-Learning and translate these ideas into learning solutions (digitalisation, blended learning etc.) Create / formulate learning objectives, outline of programme content, including flow and structure Conduct a content gap analysis to identify areas that need more content/explanation Data Literacy and Digital Agility Collects and analyses data related to learner performance, engagement, and progress within digital learning environments. Uses data analytics tools to derive insights, identify patterns, and make data-driven decisions to enhance the learning strategy. Implement learning analytics systems to track and measure the effectiveness of learning programmes. Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) like completion rates, assessment scores, and time spent on learning activities. Utilises data to create personalised learning experiences, adapting content and assessments to the specific needs and preferences of individual learners. Implements recommendation engines to suggest relevant resources and activities based on learner profiles. Conducts A/B tests to compare the impact of different instructional designs, content formats, or delivery methods on learning outcomes. Uses the results to refine the digital components of the learning strategy. Administers and manages Learning Management Systems (LMS) to organise and deliver digital learning materials. Customises LMS settings and features to align with the learning strategy’s goals. Oversees the organisation and accessibility of digital learning content within the LMS or content management systems. Ensures content is up-to-date and appropriately tagged for easy retrieval. Incorporates gamification elements, simulations, and interactive scenarios to enhance learner engagement and retention. Uses digital tools and platforms to create immersive learning experiences. Optimises digital content for mobile learning, ensuring that it is accessible on various devices and screen sizes. Explores mobile learning apps and responsive design for seamless access. Enhances the user experience by designing intuitive and user-friendly digital interfaces. Conducts usability testing to identify and address user interface issues. Prepares regular reports and presentations for senior management, showcasing progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement. Maintains open lines of communication with stakeholders to gather their input, feedback, and insights throughout the learning strategy design process. Utilises technology to increase the impact of the People function and prepares the Organization for the adoption of digital practices. Stakeholder Management Collaborates with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and other stakeholders to ensure the quality of learning materials and programmes. Works in close collaboration with People teams, BULs, and senior leadership to align learning strategies with Organizations objectives. Creates reports and visualizations to communicate the impact and outcomes of the learning strategy to stakeholders. Works closely with stakeholders to clarify and define clear, measurable learning goals and objectives aligned with the Organization’s strategic priorities. Partners with training and development teams to ensure seamless execution of learning programmes. Engages with employees at all levels to understand their career goals and aspirations. Communicates career development opportunities, training programmes, and the benefits of internal mobility to encourage active participation. Collaborates with external talent development consultants or experts to bring in specialised knowledge and resources to enhance programmes. Collaborates with People Specialists, Business Partners, and senior audit and non-audit portfolio leadership and management to align talent development and mobility strategies with the Organization’s overall objectives and vision. Provides regular updates and reports on the progress of the learning strategy initiatives. Identifies key stakeholders and co-develop tailored engagement strategies for each group. Build strong relationships with influential stakeholders and secure their support. Shares insights and data related to learning strategy to support People decision-making. Suggests and implements initiatives to build a positive work culture in the team and People Portfolio. Manages relationships with external stakeholders. Develop Learning Technology Development and deployment of e-learning across multiple platforms – Studio, Canvas, Articulate Storyline, and others Expertly guiding the broader team and clients on functionality of the different LMSs – conducting Learning sessions and attending client meetings Development and deployment of e-learning across multiple platforms – Studio, Canvas, Articulate Storyline, and others Expertly guiding the broader team and clients on functionality of the different LMSs – conducting Learning sessions and attending client meetings Working with our technology team to drive the development of new functionality to meet current and future client needs Leading the research into other LMS options to source the best solutions to meet client requirements Learning Experience and Journey Establish clear learning objectives aligned to the defined learning experience strategy to enable the appropriate definition of the learning journey required Articulate a clear user story/journey through a digital learning / information architecture throughout the learning ecosystem. Consider functional requirements i.e. key methods, logistics, topics, and activities needed to create an engaging and successful learning experience Consider the content delivery platforms, content curators, developers and designers, course materials, and user support or learning resources in defining the learning journey Focus on defining how learners access and engage with topics, knowledge, and skills. Closely collaborate with the learning community to understand the current and future skill requirements and learning landscapes Collaborate with all stakeholders within the organization and the wider Learning community to facilitate an understanding of the learning experience Partner with the learning and development team to maintain critical touchpoints between experience design and development. Ensure that the learning interventions produces offerings, learning professionals are informed and educated on the rollout of learning aligned to the learning experience required Learning Design Support in the design of innovative core and common learning journeys, using leading learning practices and experience driven learning design Optimise the use of learning journeys and associated experiences for all related learning interventions Consider the variety of learning interfaces available, and ensure through the design of learning experiences, that the users interaction is as simple and efficient as possible Analyse where learning experiences can be integrated with other related systems through collaboration with line management and key learning stakeholders Identify and assess the implications of changes for learning experiences, functions and processes and provide recommendations Diagnose learning experience design-related challenges and in partnership with line management, measure progress to improvement or resolution Execute on learning experience initiatives to enable a consistently positive and effective experience for all users Requirements Minimum relevant bachelors degree in Education, Instructional Design or related learning/educational sciences field. Added Advantage: Post-graduate qualification in Education, instructional Design. Minimum of 6 years Specialist experience in the learning design environment with at least 3 years focusing on developing learning objectives in alignment with organisational goals. Added advantage: Experience leading the design and development of learning programmes in the public sector or a professional services environment (Preferably an auditing environment).
