PEN is a non-profit organisation based in Pretoria with over 100 employees and operates in a multi-cultural and multi-sight context. The High School Programme Manager will be responsible for managing the High School Programme overall in accordance with the PEN Youth Vision and Strategy. This role involves overseeing all day-to-day functions, monitoring efficiency, and evaluating performance. The Manager will also be key in establishing and maintaining key relationships with high schools and will be required to present the programme to various stakeholders, beneficiaries and partners. Furthermore, the manager will provide administrative and leadership support to the team leader within the broader Youth team and vision. Your: QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A relevant Bachelor’s Degree in fields such as Theology, Youth Development, Education, Social Work, Education etc. Safety Compliance: Knowledge of and commitment to Child Protection Policies and required safety protocols for working with minors in a South African setting. Logistics: Valid South African driver’s license and own reliable transport is often essential for school visits and outreach activities. (Advantageous) REQUIREMENTS: Committed Christian Leader: Must demonstrate a mature, active personal Christian faith based on the fundamentals of Christianity. Extensive Youth Development: Minimum 35 years in youth ministry or Christian leadership, with proven ability to disciple and mentor teenagers. Programme Management: Minimum 23 years of experience managing a team or coordinating a programme with defined goals. Outreach & Partnerships: Proven experience in outreach and establishing effective working partnerships with external stakeholders, specifically local high schools. Presentation & Communication: Excellent public speaking and facilitation skills for delivering content to teenagers and representing the programme to adults. Cross-Cultural Competency: Demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust within South Africas diverse contexts. Operational Proficiency: Competency in administrative tasks, including record-keeping, resource allocation, and budget management. Trauma-Informed Care (Advantageous): Experience working with youth facing challenging situations, ideally using a trauma-informed approach in a pastoral context. MAIN JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO) Oversight of programme: Implement strategy to ensure objectives and targets are reached. Manage the operation of the High School Programme, ensuring all activities are executed effectively and efficiently. Understand the trends, progress towards goals, adjust where necessary and highlight concerns. Promoting the love for learning and ensuring that safe spaces are created where the learners feel welcome and at home. Guide staff and volunteers to reach agreed-upon objectives and follow good standards Spiritual oversight of the programme. Programme: Establish, cultivate, and maintain key working relationships with local high schools to ensure programme access and collaboration. Present programme content and lessons directly to teenagers, ensuring engagement, comprehension, and consistent messaging. Be available for one-on-one mentoring, guidance, and support sessions with high school youth, addressing individual needs related to life skills, trauma, and personal development. Provide critical intervention and support when dealing with challenging situations or student needs that require managerial oversight. Office administration: Work closely with the administrator to provide accurate facts and figures timeously. Ensure the availability of compliance documentation. Ensure there is sufficient evidence to demonstrate impact. Staff management: Schedule and coordinate meetings. Be responsible for participating in staff recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching and disciplinary issues when they arise. Conduct bi-annual performance evaluations. Offer ongoing staff development and training. Enforce policies and procedures and report staff deviations to the Team Leader. Manage and report on staff leave. Ensure staff have the resources available to carry out daily duties and tasks. Stakeholder engagement: Manage relationships with existing donors and partners by ensuring that roles and outcomes are understood. Provide professional and timely feedback on the impact of funds received. Source funding possibilities by marketing and networking with donors. Develop partnerships with like-minded organisations, and other relevant organisations to share resources and improve the services delivered to PEN beneficiaries.
