JOB DESCRIPTION INFORMATION: Job Title: Procurement Buyer Employment Type: Permanent Work Model: Onsite JOB CONTEXT: We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Procurement Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services that are essential to our day-to-day operations. Youll work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and quality assurance. THE JOB REQUIREMENTS: Responsibility: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of materials, components, and services needed for railway operations and maintenance. Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable supply and favorable terms. Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including creating and issuing purchase orders, negotiating terms and conditions, and confirming order details. Ensure that all purchased items meet the required quality standards and are delivered on time. Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to plan and execute timely purchases. Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure the best possible prices, terms, and conditions. Review and manage contracts to ensure compliance with agreed terms and resolve any issues related to contract performance. Work with legal and finance teams to address contractual and financial matters. manage procurement budgets, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and adherence to financial constraints. Analyse pricing to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Implement cost control measures and monitor spending against budgeted figures. Ensure that all procured goods and services meet the quality and safety standards required by the railway industry. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies related to procurement. Address and mitigate any risks related to supplier performance, quality issues, or supply chain disruptions. Prepare and present procurement reports, including spend analysis, supplier performance metrics, and procurement activity summaries. Provide recommendations for process improvements and strategic sourcing initiatives. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on procurement needs and priorities. Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and address procurement-related inquiries. Skills: Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills. The role may involve occasional travel to supplier sites or company facilities. Office environment with occasional exposure to manufacturing or warehouse settings. DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION: Qualification: Matric Certificate Certifications or Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. Knowledge and Experience: Proven experience as a Procurement Buyer or in a similar procurement role, preferably within the train or transportation industry. 5- 10 years experience.
